The method is called Classical Academic art. Academic because it's systematic, it's been broken down into a science, making it possible for anyone to learn. It is not, however, a fast process. After prepping a board, we begin with a sketch, an underpainting, color, then glazing.
I am required to complete three reproductions from the collection of the master's works before I begin my own original pieces.
I keep meaning to update this portion of my blog, but there's still a lot I need to learn.
